The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit. (James 5:16b-18 ESV)
Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, (2 Thessalonians 3:1 ESV)
“Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14 ESV)
Historically, during times of pressing importance Christians have come together to fast and pray in order to petition God to move on their behalf. That is what we are asking you to do this week. We believe that the work of training pastors and planting churches cannot be done without God’s active involvement. In fact, it won’t even get off the ground until we are able to raise the support set for us by MTW.
Currently, we are just over 60% which means that we have a significant portion yet to raise, especially if we are going to be able to get to the field before the end of the summer. This is our goal because it will allow the girls to start school on time and will get the ball rolling for the ministry. If the support raising was left up to just us, we would be in trouble, but it is really up to God.
Therefore, we are coming together this week, with Christians from various part of the country, to pray that God would provide the necessary pledges for us to get to the field in August.
Please pray that God would grant our heart’s desire to get to the field and that his provision would come in such a way that the only reasonable explanation is that God provided it:
May he grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans! May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions! Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. (Psalm 20:4-7 ESV)
Please pray that God would give us wisdom on how to spend our time support raising:
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5 ESV)
Please pray that we would be whimsically bold with the right attitude and posture when we ask people to support us:
The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. (Proverbs 28:1 ESV)
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7 ESV)
Please pray that God would give us favor with people that they would want to support our ministry financially and that they would send in their pledge cards:
So Joseph found favor in his sight and attended him, and he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had. (Genesis 39:4 ESV)
Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3:3-4 ESV)
And I will give this people favor in the sight the Egyptians; and when you go, you shall not go empty, (Exodus 3:21 ESV)
And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs, (Daniel 1:9 ESV)
