Last month ended in the same way it began - on the road. We started the month driving back from a missions conference held outside at Pinewoods Presbyterian Church in Penasacola. We got to share our vision for Nicaragua, eat great food, teach Sunday School and meet some amazing people. The girls had plenty of playmates, and Abigail summed it up best when she said, "I didn't know you could become such good friends in such a short time!" The girls were also invited to sing in the children's choir that Sunday, which was a lot of fun!
We ended the month in South Florida where we got to reconnect with old friends at Buenas Notcias De Fe, a bilingual church outside of Ft. Lauderdale. When Tony was in High School, he attended the church's Thursday night youth group. It was really special to see old friends and to meet their kids! It's hard to believe that it's been 15 years! When the worship started in Spanish, it was a bit surreal to be worshiping in the language we will soon be worshipping and living in! Although it wasn't planned, Virgil, an old friend and one of the pastors of the church, brought us to the front and had the congregation pray for us. It was a great night!
On Sunday, Tony got the opportunity to preach at Crossway Church in Davie. Tony's brother, Jon, is the lead pastor who planted the church several years ago. God is doing some neat things in the church and they have been very supportive of our efforts in Nicaragua, so it was a pleasure to be able to preach at the church. It's always fun when we get the chance to do ministry with Jon and his church! If you have heard us share our story, you may recall us sharing about Pastor Ricardo. We visited at his home during our vision trip. He was anxious to be able to receive pastoral training, hoping that we would be in Nicaragua within a few weeks. Well, the summer after our trip, Crossway took a summer trip to Nicaragua and some of the leaders visited Ricardo as well. The church came back and raised the funds to build Ricardo a new and better home!
The month also included two trips to Faith Presbyterian in Wauchula, Florida, once for Tony to preach and another time to share at their Wednesday night Bible study. One of the most underrated aspects of any church is their pot luck dinners, where the cooking is always great. Luckily for us, the pot luck at Faith was first rate, so we got to enjoy great food with great friends.
We have been keeping really busy support-raising but, of course, there is still a lot of work ahead of us. If you are interested in supporting us and would like some more info, please let us know by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
